Somerset Artist (Artists in focus No.4 )

Back in September I visited the studio/home of the artist Angela Charles. I'd met Angela a while ago when she was exhibiting at a gallery in Bath.
This time she was taking part in the Somerset Arts weeks, an open studios event held annually at  various venues across Somerset, England.

She was displaying her landscape inspired work at her home in Crewkerne South Somerset and we spoke about her paintings that are frequently influenced by the Dorset/Devon coast.

You can find out more about Angela's work from her website www.angelacharles.com (hover mouse if this fails to appear as this sometimes annoyingly happens due to white out of black type!)

Jurassic coast

An acrylic on canvas painting of the "Jurassic Coast" on the  Dorset/East Devon border in England. I spent a few days here and with the usual workbook sketches and photographs have started to document this amazing coastline.

Arts weekend

The arts trail weekend that I posted about previously was very successful. I was exhibiting with five other artists/craftspeople and met lots of interesting visitors and sold quite a few paintings.
Thanks to all the organisers.

Arts trail weekend

Just back from a trip to the Greek islands and bracing myself for a full on weekend of art!
I'm taking part in the Art on the Hill trail in Bristol England. This will be a good opportunity to meet fellow artists and the general public and get feedback on my work all of which will be for sale.
The venue is the Windmill Hill community centre and all details can be found on their website www.artonthehill.org.uk (once again if this fails to appear hover mouse over). There is also an app. that can be downloaded on which I've given a brief interview about my work.
Times are from 12-6 on Saturday and Sunday and it'll be nice to meet as many people as possible.
I'll be displaying some work not yet seen on this website hope to see you there.

Back to Cornwall

A trip to Cornwall and some inspiration for some new work. The painting "Harbour Mousehole" is an acrylic on canvas and the smaller work is from a visit to St.Ives and the glorious Porthminster beach.

Drawn from life 4

The life drawing class that I attend has finished for the summer period. I generally only save a fraction of the drawings produced and occasionally work on them a little more in the studio, however this is a discipline that I shall continue with as a complete opposite of my abstract landscapes.
